Google Introduces AI Overview in Italy

News from Google: A few hours ago, Google announced the launch of AI Overview in Italy as well, a Gemini-based feature designed to offer faster, more contextual, and more conversational answers. The goal is to improve the search experience, increasing both usage frequency and user satisfaction.

Visually, results will differ from the traditional list of links we've known for decades: text will be presented broken into paragraphs, enriched with images, with sources indicated in the top right and direct links to consult them.

This feature, which already provides detailed answers directly within Google Search, could impact web traffic, since users may decide not to visit the original sites, finding all the information they need directly in the results.

The challenge for companies will be to create online content that can be optimized for AI answers: accurate, well-structured, and backed by concrete data. Alongside this, formatting also matters; using bullet lists, tables, and concise answers to questions can be useful ways to increase the chances of being selected by the AI.

The rollout of AI Overview is gradual, and it is currently available in Italy to a limited number of users, with plans for a wider expansion throughout 2025. This progressive rollout allows Google to gather feedback and optimize the user experience before a full launch.
