80% of desired products aren’t in stock in store: CEO Claudio Agazzi weighs in

There’s a gap between what consumers search for online and what’s available in their nearest store. RetailTune’s internal data for the fashion sector reveals that 80% of the products consumers view online are not available in the nearest store in the size/color combination they’re looking for. This percentage, measured for single-brand stores, is likely even higher for multi-brand stores or franchises, which generally carry less product. These are significant numbers, but they also represent huge opportunities for stores.

Companies cannot overlook this “hot” audience, interested in their brand or one of their products and just one step away from purchasing, who visit the product page precisely to get information and inspiration in order to complete the purchase in store. Instead, they need to meet potential customers’ needs by matching the product they want with the product that’s actually available.

RetailTune has developed an innovative system that expands a store’s ability to sell: an upcoming release that represents a further step forward for Drive to Store strategies.
